Work Ethic (Consistency, Repetition, Staying Power and Hard Work): Recipe for Success
Consistency: When we start a work, project, program or process that we believe will affect our lives, and that should take us to our future, and be our legacy, we must achieve one aspect of our lives. quality and that is consistency in the execution of our plans. This should be clear and written. This is more in our thoughts and feelings. If you have clearly defined and/or understood the process of achieving that goal, there is no conflict, argument, doubt, or pretense about it. You just have to follow it. Be selfless. The results you think about are so important that you can’t think about anything else, which is failure. Nature will not let you down. It gives you back what you give. So, don’t give him ego poison, but ego food. It will take care of you. Be consistent in doing all the logical things you have identified or given in a routine to achieve the goals you have set. Always be consistent. Don’t find yourself debating whether you should get up or sleep longer, or if you want to put off an action until the next day. Do what you need to do today, because tomorrow has things to do, and they deserve all of your energy and attention.
Repetition: As you pursue your personal and/or professional goals, you will make mistakes and disappoint yourself. This is how we learn in life. Don’t beat yourself up so much that you can’t even try again. I grew up in Jane Furse, Sekhukhune District, Limpopo Province, South Africa. There is this football club in Ga-Sekwati Mampuru village, called Sekwati Try Again FC. I love them so much because their name is so inspiring. Life is all about repeating and trying again. If you fail at something, you have to try again. You grow from your mistakes. All you need is a positive attitude and drive yourself to try again. I think it was Jimmy Cliff who sang the song, Second Time Around. There is always a second time and many times in life. We must take the opportunity to try again, and take a second chance. Sekwati Try Again FC was a great football club. They did not weaken. If you defeat them, they will come to you next time. He would have studied the previous game, realized your strengths, and their weaknesses, and seen how to approach the game again. This time, he will beat you well. Therefore, repetition is the master of success.
Staying Strong: Success in life depends on your stamina, i.e. your stamina, stamina and drive. Nothing comes easy in life. It’s a good idea to get into the habit of staying on the road until the end of the trip. I have never heard of anyone being killed for their hard work. What kills people is not liking their jobs and the problems caused by other people at work. It is also caused by our inability to deal with the problems brought by our fellow human beings, or our attitude towards them. Therefore, you should have a chance to stay. Don’t take your problems for granted. Otherwise, that’s what will make you depressed and eventually kill you. Stay in a positive mindset at all times. Do not be affected by the problems and difficulties that your colleagues, managers, leaders, and/or employees bring you. Know the language your superiors speak when they interact with you. Answer them using the language they are using. If they are using commanding language or directives get them first and respond accordingly. Don’t respond with emotional language, because it makes them angry and they will see you as a cry baby and a spoiled rat. If they are using fancy language, make sure you get the facts and follow them. If they use smart language, make sure you find out why they talk the way they talk to you. So, always be consistent with your leaders, colleagues and communication language. Therefore, your stay is not only physical, but also mental and emotional. You can adjust yourself accordingly.
Hard Work: In the end, it is hard work. This does not mean that your life has to stop, no. You just have to understand that every activity requires a little push if you want to be better than others. Nothing beats hard work, especially if hard work is accompanied by skill, creativity, and intelligence. We must love what we do. We must prepare ourselves to cultivate and invest before we can harvest. As soon as we feel that we want to harvest where we have never cultivated, we are on a dangerous path, which can lead to our own destruction. It is beautiful to reap the fruits of our labor. You love such fruits without guilt.
Therefore, work ethic according to the above definition, is about consistency, repetition, persistence (staying power), and hard work. Nothing less, nothing more. You need to develop work skills to be successful. That’s the way to win. Of course your natural abilities always come in handy. But as John Maxwell wrote in his book: Talent is not enough, certainly skill is not enough. It requires the right personality, attitude, hard work, determination, etc.
