Grace and Favor: God’s Promises to You

Faith is a living, bold confidence in the grace of God, so sure and sure that a man may stake his life upon it a thousand times. ~ Martin Luther

Have you ever done someone a favor? Some gift or task with no strings attached? How did you feel knowing you had the power and ability to be a blessing?

Now here’s a thought. How do you feel when you receive God’s favor and grace? Do you believe that He does things for you only if you do things for Him? Can His grace ever be earned or repaid?

The answer is of course no. It is not expected. Even your heartfelt gratitude is insufficient. If you try your whole life, you can’t repay it! That is why it is called ‘Upakar’.

‘Grace’ is defined as unmerited divine assistance. It includes recognition, favor, mercy, forgiveness and privilege. Grace is an example of love. God inspired Jesus to come to earth. He gave His Son because He wanted you. The gospel (which means ‘good news’) is the blessing, the eternal promise of God’s grace and mercy.

God has given you a privileged status. You are his adopted child. He named you the ambassador of his kingdom. Additionally, you have been given power of attorney to use the name of Jesus, the name above all names. Jesus is the King of kings and Lord of lords; And you are one of the kings and lords over whom he is the head. You are royalty!

A state has power, authority and status. You are ‘seated in heavenly places’. God has told you to have ‘dominion’. All the power of God is available to you through His word, His grace, and His grace. To help you understand the breadth and depth and length and height of God’s infinite love and grace, here is a partial list of the benefits you receive through His gift of grace.

Grace blesses. The Bible says that the Lord blesses you continually. That blessing is grace, God’s grace. The blessing was spoken over mankind in Genesis when God gave man the power to be ‘fruitful, multiply and have dominion’. Now, that doesn’t mean we have to do those things. There is no difference between “be light” and “be fruitful”. God brought the blessing into existence. fruitful IS – and it is sure as a light to any of his children who will enter into the blessing by faith.

Jesus preached the same message everywhere. He said He came to give you ‘more abundant life’ (John 10:10). Luke elaborates on Jesus’ declaration that he was anointed (or ‘sent’) to teach people about deliverance, healing, recovery and freedom (Luke 4:18), in other words, God’s grace.

Gives grace. Psalm 68 says that the Lord blesses you every day! Psalm 103 lists some of these benefits: forgiveness, healing, loving mercy, renewed youth, and protection. They are all gifts of God’s grace. You have already been given ‘every spiritual blessing’ and ‘sufficiency in all things’! Psalm 37 says that He wants you to fulfill the desires of your heart. Every word in the Bible comes from God’s heart, from His desire to see the upliftment and health of His children – soul, spirit and body (3 John 1:2).

Grace forgives. God not only forgives every sin (because Jesus paid the price for anything we have ever done or ever will do), He has also cleansed you from all unrighteousness. why So that he can enjoy his human family. God loves us and as divine parents we want to spend time with our families. Remember that the next time you think you did something wrong. He forgave you 2000 years ago! Even the excruciating pain of the crucifixion did not stop Jesus from showing forgiveness to his enemies and mercy to the criminals on his side.

Grace is kind. Mercy is defined as kind, compassionate treatment, an act of divine grace. The Bible describes God’s mercy as ‘abundant’, ‘new every morning’ and ‘from everlasting to everlasting’. Psalm 103 says that ‘from the east to the west’ He removes your transgressions from you and He does not remember them. Mercy holds no grudges and refrains from punishment or condemnation. God deals with you as if it never happened. This is God’s eternal grace.

Grace gives grace. Over and over again, the Bible says that God ‘showed grace’ or ‘showed grace’ to His people. Ephesians says he ‘raised us to sit in heavenly places’. A place in God’s throne room is very prestigious, don’t you think? He adopted us into his family and told us to call him ‘Abba, father’.

Perhaps you remember photos of a young John Kennedy Jr. playing under the desk in the Oval Office while his father, then President of the United States, was at work. For John-John this important man was just ‘Daddy’. Well, God is your ‘Daddy’ and He wants to show you grace. He told you to ‘come boldly’ and ask Him for whatever you need (Hebrews 4:16) so that you may ‘receive mercy and grace to help’. God wants to show you grace! That is grace – love in action.

Grace strengthens. God said, My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness. (2 Corinthians 12:9) Whatever you need to do, God’s grace is available to help. I remember the years my mother was in a nursing home. Emotionally it became more and more difficult to visit each day. As I drove there every morning, I kept repeating, “Your grace is sufficient; Your grace is sufficient.” He strengthened my resolve to do what needed to be done. And he has done so in countless situations throughout my life. turning to God in times of weakness or need; We receive His grace, power and grace.

Grace gives power. Not only are you adopted into God’s family, but He declares that you are a king and a priest. His divine power has given you ‘all things that pertain to life and godliness’ (2Peter 1:3). His word (in your mouth) is quick and powerful (Hebrews 4:12).

Timothy explains that God has given you strength, love, and a sound mind (1:7). Moreover, he gave you his weapons to defeat all your enemies (see f. 6). The Bible declares you conquerors, more than conquerors! How’s that for power?

Grace flourishes. Did you know that God ‘delights’ in your prosperity? Or does it give you the ‘power to acquire wealth’? The most famous hymn in the Bible affirms that your ‘cup runs out’ and goodness and mercy follow you daily! It would be ‘good’ to have an abundant supply without any financial worries, don’t you think? 2 Corinthians 9:8 says that God ‘abounds in all grace to you’ so that you ‘abound in every good work’. You cannot give what you do not have. God’s grace provides ‘a means of abundant blessing to the faithful man’ (Ps. 28:20). Psalm 112 says that you will find ‘wealth and riches’ in your home. Grace, forgiveness or kindness are equally part of God’s grace.

Grace protects. Psalm 91 details the many protections available to those who make God their source. It says ‘certainly’ He will deliver you, be your refuge and fortress and nothing can harm you. Additionally, it promises long life and salvation from any evil.

Everything God has done is the result of His great love and grace. Everything you need or want is abundantly available because of that grace and grace. As you spend time meditating on God’s grace and mercy, you will learn to depend on Him in all circumstances. That’s all He wants – that you trust Him enough to cast your cares on Him…so that He can show Himself strong on your behalf. His Word makes it clear that He wants to spend the ages showing you the great riches of His grace and mercy. He wants to bless you abundantly!

Use your faith and the power of your words to receive His favor and grace. Refuse to talk about the problem when God’s grace has given you every answer in His Word. Refuse to let the system of this world dictate your life. Take your place – the place He has prepared for you. Stand in your power. Choose what you believe and what happens with the words you speak. Why would you accept the ways of the world when God’s grace is so good?

Grace to be Peace be with you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. (I Cor. 1:3)
