Can You Eat Unlimited Amounts Of Fruit On The Nutrisystem Diet?

There is no doubt that fruits and vegetables are an important part of a Nutrisystem diet. Some people want to make the most of it and wonder if they can eat unlimited amounts of fruit. I find that, not surprisingly, more people ask about eating fruits than vegetables.

I heard from someone who said: “I’m interested in starting the Nutrisystem diet relatively early. But I’m wondering if I can eat a lot of fruit. I love sweets and I know I might have to give up on my diet. Cookies, I Sounds like bananas and kiwis are good options, at least while I’m dieting. But I’m wondering if there are any limits to how much I can eat.” I will address these concerns below.

I find that there is sometimes confusion about unlimited fruits and vegetables on this diet. Many non-starchy vegetables are off limits, but only those with a low glycemic index. You may already know this, but Nutrisystem promotes and provides foods that are glycemic friendly, meaning they are low in starches and carbohydrates to keep you full and keep your blood sugar in check. (An apple, for example, can contain more than 25 grams of sugar, although this sugar is more beneficial than the processed kind because it’s easily converted to energy.) And although you’re encouraged to eat three servings of fruit per day, these aren’t unlimited. But the serving sizes are generous. For example, a serving is one apple, one banana, or a whole cup of blueberries, cherries, strawberries, or pineapple, just two examples.

It is recommended that you have one fruit with breakfast and another with a main meal or snack. And, you can have either a fruit or a vegetable for dinner. If you choose fruit instead of vegetables at dinner, that’s up to three per day. Breakfast is advised as it is usually very easy to include fruit in breakfast. Just add strawberries to your cereal or top your French toast with blueberries. Adding fruit to a protein-based snack is also easy. A cherry on top of Greek yogurt or cottage cheese is a quick, easy, and nutritious way to get a serving into your day.

I know this question was based on having lots of fruit but, believe it or not, I sometimes get people asking me if they can skip fruit because they don’t like it. You shouldn’t skip fruit, but you can have four ounces of pure fruit juice without added sugar.

I know not having unlimited fruit may sound negative, but honestly, you’re also told to add veggies and protein. So you have a lot of fresh sides that you’re trying to work on. So you usually have more than enough.
