Dysphea, My Shortness of Breath at Night, and Fish Oil
hello I am going to tell you my experiences with asthma, exercise and night breathing. Then I’ll explain what I did, so that I can sleep soundly and my snoring stops too! I am not a doctor nor am I giving you advice. However we live in America, where we have some freedom of speech and practically that should mean we should have good will towards each other. A few years ago while training for the Olympic Judo Trials, I would go to bed at night after a good workout with a headache, and sometimes wake up gasping for air and sit up and go back to sleep feeling unwell. As time went on, I found myself sitting up in bed trying to catch my breath more and more often. After some research I discovered that I have several allergies that cause my breathing problems such as dog hair, dog dander, dust mites and house dust. (Try to escape from it). I became intolerant to many dairy products like cheese, milk and even chocolate. I noticed that if I had too much of either product, I would wake up in the middle of the night gasping for air, especially if I was working out that evening. The combination of working out and eating the wrong things was fatal for me.
Fast forward 25 years and there I was at ground zero. No effect. I admit that in the past I have had temporary relief from antihistamines and allergy pills in the middle of the night, but I only used them in emergencies because I hate taking them. After an asthma attack, my body would shake in the middle of the night with anxiety and difficulty falling asleep. It was very stressful and I wasn’t sure what I could do about it.
I was watching TV about a year ago. I haven’t found anything to date that does a lot, and guess what? I found what worked for me and wanted to share it with you. Fish oil!!! I was in my bathroom all the time. The omega-3 fatty acids (fish oil) were from Trader Joe’s, and I took 3 at a time after working out, eating chocolate, eating ice cream before going to bed, and rubbing my face in my dogs’ fur. I slept like a baby and didn’t wake up except to go to the bathroom once. Fish oil doesn’t clear up my breathing 100 percent but, I’d say it improves my breathing at least 90 percent. Praise God for this wonderful gift. By the way, I haven’t woken up in the middle of the night even once in the last year, so speaking for myself, I call that a win!!
There are many more articles on the net and I invite you to explore the benefits of fish oil and asthma. There is a ton of good information.
