Depressive & Suicidal Tendencies – Understanding & Overcoming
We all get a little low sometimes and then we think life is too much. Now that is very human. Indeed, life is complicated enough for that. But we can and should make a conscious effort to break out of this mental trap. It is the devil within us that suggests any form of negativity or violence, including self-harm, and we must never succumb to this evil suggestion.
There can be many reasons for feeling low; Some people may think that this happens for no reason but it is not. For every effect, there is always a cause. The reasons may be different of course but they always exist.
Whatever the reasons, here are some things that can help you overcome depression and suicidal tendencies, they are: daily exercise; regular sun exposure; eating fruits, nuts and seasonal greens; Deep and diaphragmatic (abdominal) breathing or better yogic pranayama; belief in a supreme benevolent power; praying for forgiving and loving friends and relatives and others (including, pets, trees, etc.); Accepting the right of others to hold different views, reading the scriptures with faith and reverence, etc.
The brain of a person who has a habit of negative thinking becomes hardened accordingly. Those habits of thought create neural circuits and subsequent actions only reinforce these, requiring greater self-awareness and willpower to change the situation. But it is never difficult to change.
We should basically realize that we are all good, even if we fail to be good at times. When we fail, we shouldn’t feel overly guilty – we should just make amends and apologize and move on.
The world is a school, life is all about learning, every experience is a lesson. Those who commit suicide are out of this school of life. And what happens to students who take the drops? He repeated the class. Those who escape a fearful or confused life by killing themselves unnaturally and brutally, repeat the ‘class’, with the disadvantage of an additional karmic debt for the killing. Murder is murder, whether one kills another or oneself. Suicide is, in a way, the worst kind of murder, because love, like altruism, must begin with oneself.
But those who are more fortunate, stronger and know better, should empathize with people with depression/suicidal tendencies and help them overcome it rather than just criticizing them.
We must help such people to understand that such running away from life is selfish in a way. Everyone has problems, how we look at them and how we deal with them determines whether they become a ‘ladder’ or a ‘snake’ in the game of life. Those we leave behind, were not having a cake-walk (it’s never really easy to walk on a cake; wonder how the saying came to be!); They had their challenges. If someone has problems in a relationship with them, they will also have problems with that person because it is usually mutual. By suddenly leaving them like this, it becomes even more difficult for them – more lonely and sad.
Or it’s not fun for those guys themselves, as they soon find out. This whole thing is very unfair. If only we could stop for a moment to take another perspective before we put ourselves in harm’s way!
We are responsible for our thoughts which become our actions; Life is the sum total of these thoughts and actions. If we don’t feel positive about our lives, instead of regretting and seeking relief through feelings of inferiority or fear, we must take responsibility for ourselves and change our thoughts and actions. A little success will motivate us further. If we are unhappy today because of the bad things we did yesterday, we can improve tomorrow by doing the right things today. For better or worse, life is always a journey; Progress or regress, it always happens little by little. Life is never so bad that it can’t be good again. Hope is our eternal truth. That is religious faith in practice.
