Things to Know About Travel to Chennai
About Chennai
Due to the southern heat, roaring traffic and lack of notable sights, the ‘Capital of the South’ has always been the dull brother of India’s four largest cities. For many travelers, it is as much a gateway as a destination. If you’re just caught between connections, it’s definitely worth a stroll around one of the museums or a sunset stroll along Marina Beach. If you have more time to explore Chennai’s various neighborhoods and appreciate its role as a custodian of South Indian artistic and religious traditions, this 70-square kilometer cluster of urban villages will grow on you. One of Chennai’s greatest assets is its people, infectiously enthusiastic about their hometown. They won’t put you through a lot of rush and trouble, and they’ll treat you more like a guest than a commodity.
