Review Oprah And Eckert Tolle Webinar
Oprah Winfrey and bestselling author and spiritual teacher Eckhart Tolle have teamed up to teach a live weekly web seminar called Webinar. It centers around Tolle’s book (and Oprah’s latest book club selection) A New Earth: Awakening to Your Life Purpose. Hailed as “the biggest classroom ever”, the show was watched by nearly 10 million viewers over ten weeks. Tolle’s book sold 3.5 million copies in its first four weeks on Oprah’s Book Club selection.
Oprah said, “I love this Eckhart Tolle book because my goal in life is to get people to think about themselves in a way that makes them realize who they are. You don’t have to wait until you’re 54 or 63, but the whole point of this program for all these years is my Trying to bring a sense of self-actualization to the audience. That’s what I’m trying to do. This book is one of the best in its genre [that] I’ve never seen his clarity and ability to make people see the light of who they are, and once you see that, you stop wasting time.”
During the webinar a viewer asked: “Why is this happening now?” Why were there about 700,000 viewers of a show that promoted spiritual awakening? Tolle replied, “It’s happening now because we’ve reached a crisis point. The most important things don’t happen unless they’re absolutely necessary. If you look at the history of the 20th century, you’ll get a taste of that. What if there’s not a big shift.” Conservative estimates conclude that more than 100 million humans were killed by other humans in the 20th century, Tolle said. “When you look at that history, it’s incredibly insane. And so if there’s not a shift in consciousness, we’re going to go down very quickly, because we’re already in the process of destroying the planet. But there will also be constant conflict, collective conflict. , and eventually, then, humanity. will collapse.”
Oprah: “So you think we’re at a crisis point, right?”
Tolle: “Crisis point, yes.”
The point of Tolle’s theory of teaching is that we must move away from our ego-centric view of who we are as a part of the whole of life.
“You don’t become special. When a new consciousness arises, you become ordinary. It doesn’t say, ‘Look at me!’ Can’t be more successful than people, so please let me be special in my suffering. Please let me be more sad than other people. Need to be special. You are in the field right now. It is vast. It is alive. You are spacious around events. To make an impression. No need to stand out. Words will come out of your mouth, but not in self-seeking.
“Instead of going into life and reacting to the content that constantly arises in your life—new things, thoughts, feelings, external events, people, places, the scenery around you will constantly change—content is allowed. Content creates. In the ‘now’ you also have the now. Consciousness arises, beyond arising phenomena. This is the miracle of the transformation of consciousness.
“What does that mean? You are now aware of yourself. You are aware of the undercurrent of silence in which everything happens. Then you realize that you are the deep undercurrent of silence around which events unfold. From that moment on, the world is no longer problematic. None of your life with my story. The content is no longer problematic. It’s just my story. But you don’t identify with it. Photo albums, either physical photo albums or the ones in your head, are things that happened to me. OK. It’s not an illusion. It happened. But you now You are not in a reactive relationship with those events. You are not locating yourself in your reactions to these events or people. You are not locating yourself in them. You are not locating yourself in them. You are in the undercurrent of peace around which all these events and relationships have occurred and are occurring. .
“The future is no longer a threat—nor is it promising! It just is. And you face it without identifying with it or with it. It’s easy, effortless—not finding yourself in something or someone. When you just start from now, the great power within you. Flowing in. You are in the undercurrent of peace.
“Some people have experienced this in an emergency. They just acted to deal with it in the moment. And they just did the right thing. There was no thinking involved. There was a greater force that took over. I’m involved in their actions. Your whole Life can only be so by living within the realm of the present, the stable consciousness around which all events occur. Fear of loss is gone. Why fear? Loss? Because there is identification with some material, and if I lose that, I lose a part of who I am. Material. Just comes and goes. Nothing stays. It is constantly changing. You can see what a miraculous transformation this is. You no longer live in fear of loss. You can live in a state of constant joy and aliveness no matter what comes to you or goes away from you. .
“You and the universe are playing with form and material. When you create without self-discovery, you create beautifully.
“Oh, I must have it! Oh, I have to fight him or her! He will get there before me. Oh, I have to compete. It brings negative energy into the actions. All this goes away and the power of consciousness itself flows through you. To create it. Love! It will create through you. Let it flow. Then all that’s left in your life is the simplicity of the moment, and it’s always that simple. Accept now. Embrace what is. Through that im-brace, the immensity that surrounds the form you are there. Knows. This is the new state of consciousness being created.”
As you can see, Tole is explaining ancient Eastern teachings in modern terms and conditions. Living in the present is the concept of “being here now,” with the added twist of deep, still consciousness or “observer” awareness that sees life’s events and relationships with detachment, without being possessed by them. It liberates from the cycle of incarnation and self-consciousness.
It is not a high place to go; Rather, it is a state of mind, a state of heart, wherever and whenever we are. We still care and act in life but we do not find our identity in these conditions of life and in these relationships. Our identity lies in the infinite peace around which life revolves. We try to improve it, to raise it to the highest ideal we perceive, but we cannot find it. It is a flow of creative content and form. We are one with that source of creativity, of pure consciousness, eternally stable observer and selfless co-creator with creative forces. An ideal motivates our actions and thoughts, not self-discovery.
Let’s try to go through a day with this attitude and state of consciousness. Morning meditation will help us start the day in peace.
