In this short article I’d like to show you another way to deal with anger so that you can harness the vital energy it brings.
The benefits of anger
Medicinal plants that grow wild are called weeds. And yet, when harvested, they work wonders.
Anger, not reaped, is a weed. It interferes with your intentions. It blocks your happiness. Anger, harvest, motor on your boat, wind in your sails, tiger in your tank.
How do you get over anger?
As with any wild herb, you must first know how to identify it. This means that when you are angry, you must realize that you are angry.
This may seem obvious but let’s look at a subtle difference. Usually, when you’re angry, you don’t really feel angry. You might think you’re right — with much enthusiasm!
When you can truly say, “I’m angry,” you’re not talking about the other person and all the horrible things they’ve done. You are talking about yourself now. You are talking about your state. This is the beginning of the first step in releasing your anger. You have separated your reaction from the perpetrator’s actions. good work
Find the will
The second step is to understand that the intensity of your anger tells you about the intensity of the desire you have. And while that desire is strong, you feel that something or someone is preventing you from fulfilling it. So anger is the photographic negative of desire. It is an emotional snapshot of a lack of wanting. And if the desire is too strong, the contrast is too sharp.
The third step is walking meditation. Now that you know the desire that’s coming up and you know the intensity of the desire, you can find a word—a word or phrase—that sums up the desire. Walk with all the power of your anger. As each foot lands, let it say that simple affirmation and let it reverberate through your body.
How John transforms his anger
Here is an example. Someone lied to John. He gets very angry. He feels betrayed. He lost money in the transaction and feels he lost a friend. He starts getting angry and can think about how wrong his friend was and how right he was.
Here’s how John works with it:
1 – He recognizes that he is angry. He understands that his anger serves a purpose and elevates him on an emotional level above despair (as taught by Abraham-Hicks). He also knows that if he remains angry, he is doing an injustice to the one in whom he trusts his power. More importantly, he is letting his power slip away from him. His power is in a useless form.
2 – He sees that his anger is too strong and he has a strong desire to trust his friendship. He also wants his money back.
3 – He sees which of these is the strongest desire. He goes back and forth between money and faith. Ultimately, he realizes that faith is his deeper desire. He chooses the word faith. He goes for a walk now.
4 – Since he is still genuinely angry, he walks fast and hard. He trembles with every step. His face is tense. His hands are firmly stuck in his pockets. With each step he allows faith to grow through him again and again. As his mind drifts toward betrayal, he brings him back to the pure emotion he knows as faith. A sense of trust in a friend allows his mind to wander randomly to moments and people when he believed. Finally his face softens. His hands shook. His anger gradually turns into excitement and excitement. He walks tiredly.
With this activity, John:
