My dentist told me that I should feel back to normal in about one to two weeks. no way It took me a month and a half. After a month, I was feeling like the old “me” and enjoying my food. Now, about the food. Please, don’t make the mistake I did, don’t try to eat with all your teeth at once.

I thought, well, I’d better just be normal, then let’s go ahead and get away! Guys! I have so much food stuck in my front teeth that you could stuff two gum wrappers in them! Don’t chop away. If you are a hard brusher then medium brusher, if you are a soft brusher then good for you. If you’re a hard brusher like me, you’ll need to back off a bit!

He heard my prayer and I started eating more with my back teeth. But first there was peace! I like to eat creamed corn, ribs cooked all the way, because you can pull them off with your fingers…

A new love! Tapioca Pudding! It’s actually an old love, but it got me in the first few weeks! Also, health-wise: Fig Newtons! Amazing soft food, healthy and fun to eat with your braces. However, you should focus on eating with your back teeth, not your front teeth. Also, put some food on your tongue and let it sit there for a minute, then move it back, because you don’t want it stuck in your front teeth!

Hmm… let’s see. Other foods you like: Peas, cream corn-man is satisfying with braces. Also, chili! Yes, chili! Is there a farmer boy near your home? The best thing you can do for your little one after getting braces is take them to Farmer’s Boys for a nice hot bowl of chili! Farm boys make them with meat, and not so many beans, and the meat is lean, so you’ll be nourished and feel normal right away! Chili my friends! Chili!

Hmm.. what else? Also, soft fruits are best. Watermelon, cucumber and orange slices are great with braces.

But remember above all else. You need to cut everything! You can’t just sit down and eat a cheeseburger! You’ll want to cut all of your sandwiches into fourths or eighths, making everything bite-sized. You can’t eat too much anymore.

Watch out for the nuts! They seem to be the hardest thing to eat with braces. You can only eat it once, but I’ll teach you how. Who loves Chocolate Nut Clusters? Me too! However, you can never eat this with your front teeth! You just can’t! Eat it with your back teeth only. Trust me, you’ll thank me later. I tried eating one for the first three days and ended up spitting out almost everything in my mouth. Also, if you’re going to eat candy, just eat one! Trust me, having your braces on will make one feel like four.

Secondly, eat slowly, enjoy and chew your food. Chewing has never been so important! Chew! Chew! Chew! Enjoy! You’ll be glad you did.

Also, in the end, you have to relax and keep an eye on the wax! The doctor kept telling me to wax, wax, wax. I have a scientific mind and it told me I was just postponing the inevitable. Those braces near the cheek will tear and eventually leave an indentation or scar. So, after only using the wax for a day or two, I gave up.

Then, of course, there was the usual pain, but after a day for me, it began to subside. Yes, yes, the braces have made an indentation in my cheek and if I run my tongue down my cheek I can feel the scar tissue or whatever, but hey, my cheek is firmer and I don’t need a wax anymore. . I have talked to people who have waxed for months!

Okay, I promised to tell you my favorite foods. It is vanilla, sorbet or strawberry ice cream. I only eat one or two scoops at night three or four times a week because it’s so soothing to my mouth. My mouth felt a little tight at first, but after I did this for a day or two, the tightness subsided and was barely noticeable. Plus I feel great after eating ice cream because it’s so soothing to my mouth!

Now, again, follow up with your dentist, but at my first braces checkup, I’m way ahead of schedule. I believe I will be getting my braces off in 8 months or less! And eating ice cream too!
