They All Went Out Together
The father of one of the 13 US soldiers who went missing at the Kabul airport in Afghanistan four days ago on August 26, 2021 described how his son said that his brothers and sisters would take care of him, and now it seems that “they did. they all went out together .This broke my heart. I served in Afghanistan and was lucky enough to come home completely, but the memories always come back to me, especially when I hear about someone who answered the call of our country and didn’t come home the way he went to the tip of the spear. .
This is a story that has been going on since time immemorial and has no end in sight. Whether it is a direct conflict with the main principles of our country, a threat to us, a rightful position, or just an accident during training or a failure in a complex system, it is difficult to see harm coming to the heart and life of America, its youth, our future, those who rose to be our shield, professionals our soldiers, sailors, Marines, Airmen, National Guard, Coast Guard, and soldiers, many of them return to those places as Contractors or as Humanitarians in Non-Governmental Organizations. Why do they contribute so much to our country and people?
The reasons vary: Honorthe desire to be honorable for our country; Traditionoften in American families, the next generation steps forward to advance the multifaceted contributions to the uniformed workforce; Interesting, Some of the coolest “toys”, the most unusual trips, and the best friends are enjoyed by those who serve. At the retirement of a man of 30 years of service, one of the nicest and brightest people I’ve ever met, when it came time for him to speak, all he could say was, “I can’t believe it’s over.” ” He cried.
Then there are others who are upset when our country is attacked shamelessly. In my life, I experienced that. On 9/11, I saw tens of thousands of Americans join the military; they were angry and destroyed for revenge. Now, in the last four days I have heard that the young children of America during 9/11 gave their last part in uniform to try to save the Afghan people who received the freedom of America. to save them.
It is difficult to hear the stories of who they were, knowing that they did not live to the full, and that they did not pass peacefully in their sleep. But, don’t turn it off, and don’t be ashamed of it. If you don’t understand, watch a good clip of Kevin Bacon, a movie called “Taking Chance.” Take care not to be ashamed of these sad stories. You will agree, because you understand that every American is their witness. You owe it to them.
