As a man with bipolar disorder (manic depressive disorder), I have blue days and often find my eyes filled with tears. Sometimes the load can be so heavy and I really need the anointing and peace of the Holy Spirit just to cope. So often when I’m sad I withdraw from all people and often I even withdraw from Jesus.

Days would go by in my depression and sometimes I’d go to church and the next I’d be crying and not ashamed. What is so great about Jesus is that Isaiah called him a man of sorrows and he also saw a dark side.

The first thing Satan wants is for you to think that God is somehow unjust and to hold a grudge against Him. So go crazy, and then when you’re done babbling, have a good talk with Jesus and tell Him everything that’s on your mind.

Get out of these stifling prayers, these holy prayers, and just chat with Jesus and lighten your burden. I do this often. In fact I chat more than you would think to pray.

Do you think God doesn’t know if you’re mad at a situation or God or Jesus? Don’t suffer in silence, you’ll be surprised how much better you feel when you get it off your chest.

I get angry too

We are created in the image of God but somehow we take human emotions and discount them from God and say that He does not go through what we experience. You only have to look at Noah’s flood if you believe it happened, to see what happens when God gets angry. If Moses had not interceded with God more often, God would have destroyed the Jews in the desert on one occasion, and they were His chosen people.

Don’t hold your anger. Share with God. God wants us to know that He is just like us. Jesus is man and God at the same time, with human emotions and this is what makes him so peaceful that he is our high priest praying and interceding for us in heaven. Let God know you are angry. Get that off your chest and you’ll get a fresh breeze when you’re done, a refreshing breeze like a beer after a hard days work.

In the Christian life our life is full of decisions and things to do. So many people come to the big square and they get scared. Jesus only asks us to follow him. So very few people pray and fast on these days. God is still a God who helps his people make decisions and wants to be consulted. But Jesus promises that he will be with us even when we make bad decisions.

So often we leave Jesus out of our dark moments and carry on in our own strength. People don’t usually run to Jesus until all their own efforts are over and done with, and yet Jesus wants us to walk with him hand in hand in our dark moments. He promises that He will never leave us.

Such a comforting thought. That Jesus will never leave us and will be with us in our darkest hours and actually wants to walk with us in those dark corridors. It is exciting and comforting to the weary soul.

Sometimes Jesus seems far away but His words are never far away. When times are tough, we need to stand on God’s words in the Bible. The night can get very dark. As someone who suffers from depression in my bipolar disorder I know what it’s like to be in a dark state and yet Jesus inspires me with joy every time I go to him and talk to him.

Again, if Satan is not making us mad at God, he wants us not to talk to Jesus and the Father in prayer. That is why you find time for everything else but no time for prayer. Prayer and Bible reading are two things, no matter how much time you devote to them, you often neglect them.
