I’m sure we’ve all been there before where we run around like headless chickens, trying to keep track of what’s about to pop into our heads. “Did I remember to turn off the stove?”, “Oh, hurry up, I have to pick up my son from school”, “No, I don’t remember where I put my car keys!” These are the times that make us feel stressed and out of breath as we try to get things done on time, however, the irony is that because we are so stressed, we end up taking more time to get things done. as we can take it for granted!
Believe it or not, there is a better way to “run.” The key here is to rest. What we tend to do when we are rushed is to forget to breathe and then we breathe. Our thoughts are related to breathing, creating spasmodic movements and thoughts that are all over the place, making you spend twice as much time on whatever you are trying to do. I’m sure everyone reading this will agree because we’ve all seen it before and the connection to how we breathe is obvious.
So it makes sense, that if we slow down the speed of breathing while running, we can do things faster and get rid of the fear and panic that takes us. So now you know what to do, however, you should practice and master this method so that it becomes automatic or second nature to you. The best way to do this is to do it while walking. Start walking slowly and gradually build up to speed, and as your speed increases, your breathing rate should decrease. Keep your shoulders relaxed and maintain a look and feel of calmness and peace that is different from what most people do naturally. What happens next is that even though you are moving fast to other people, inside, you are moving slowly and calmly because your mind is expanding and time is moving slowly.
