Pay per click (PPC) advertising is one of the best ways to get targeted traffic right away. PPC is amazing because it allows you to do a lot of things easily. You create affiliates, test landing pages, test sales pages, test variations of keywords to optimize SEO, and more. It’s an amazing way to promote things online and it’s unique because I can get results quickly.

The two main search engines for PPC are Google Ads and Microsoft Ads. Google Ads is big (as is Google), and Microsoft Ads is Bing. You will get most of your traffic from Google Ads, but Microsoft Ads can also get you great traffic. You just need to specify the specifics and targeting of your keywords, your budget, and your cost per click (CPC).

I know these tricks and words may be a lot to remember, but I can assure you they are easy. Pay per click is great because of its ability to predict the results you will get. If you know the math of your business ahead of time, and you’re getting some results on paid networks, you can adjust some of your campaigns to make the numbers work for you.

But there are many other pay per click options out there. Now you should know that I do not recommend other PPC networks. This is mainly because they equate to click fraud, and traffic. You will find that the cost per click of these keywords is much cheaper than that of Google Ads and Microsoft Ads. While you can pay $1-$3 per click on a keyword on Google and Microsoft Ads, on low-end PPC networks, you can pay 5-10 cents per click on the same keyword. Don’t expect to get good results with that network.

The only time these networks get good traffic is when you are promoting something inappropriate. That’s how I go about downloading other PPC networks, but this is something you should know before you start investing hundreds (or thousands) of dollars into other programs. You may say to yourself, “Wow, I have no competition on these other networks!”, but you should know that you have no competition because no one else who knows what they are doing knows to stay away from those sites.

You will be taking it upon yourself. And you will always lose. You will invest your money in low cost PPC campaigns for sure if you just “tweak” some aspects of your campaign to get more leads and sales. Unfortunately, it doesn’t happen like that. You can change things as much as you want, but you won’t be able to get the leads and products you’re looking for. So it is better if you follow Google Ads and Microsoft Ads, and make sure that the math in your business is working and calling for the keywords you are targeting.

So when you are on Google Ads and Microsoft Ads, what steps should you take to get the best possible results? I’m going to give you a few tips that you can use to get the most out of your competitors. Let’s start with this first tip. Here’s what I stumbled upon while doing various marketing campaigns involving email marketing:

1) Travel one part of the world

If you sell globally, it doesn’t make sense to sell to an audience that doesn’t have the money to buy your products. Also, if your main language is English, you want your chance to be English speaking. So, you’ll want to target the top five countries with the highest consumer spending, and those that speak English. These countries are: USA, United Kingdom, Canada, New Zealand, and Australia.

Now don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying that these are the only countries that have English speakers and money to spend. Many people in countries around the world achieve this, but these 5 countries are the ones you want to target to make the campaign work. I’m not trying to disparage other countries, but if you want to get real results, you’ll want to stick to these five countries. Here is another pay-per-click advertising strategy:

2) Don’t put all your words in one ad group

It’s best to have multiple campaigns, and best of all, one ad group. Personally, I should have 2 sets of PPC keywords that I pay for. I have some keywords that I buy cents $1-$1.50, then other keywords that I pay cents $0.50-$0.75. I do this because I’ve found that expensive keywords convert better for me, and cheaper keywords convert better – but not as well as expensive ones.

So at lower prices, I get more clicks, but the conversion rate is lower. So in order to pay, I lower the price of those keywords to match the conversion rates that the more expensive keywords give me. Some people have their reasons for creating multiple ad groups for a single campaign. Once you start, you will also have your reasons. This is what I do, and I have found that it works well for me. Here is the last PPC tip I want to give you:

3) Don’t need game keywords anymore

Don’t repost similar keywords. Broad refers to bidding on raw keywords. For example, if I wanted to rank for the keyword “bicycle tires”, here’s what the comparisons, terms, and specific types of keywords would look like:

GOOD COME: bicycle tires

QUESTIONS AND PRACTICES: “bicycle tires”

GENERAL INFORMATION: [bicycle tires]

If you provide matching keywords, your ad will be clicked on any search query that contains the words “bikes” and “tires”. This is a surefire way to blow your budget and ruin your campaign. It has been my experience that synonyms and keywords have helped me a lot.

Specific keywords are great, but they are very expensive and very competitive – and they don’t guarantee sales or conversions when you ask for them.

Three pay-per-click advertising strategies are tips to keep in mind before spending a single penny on advertising. Follow my advice and you will be on the right path to success.
