2010 – The Importance of Identifying Your Personal Achievements and Goal Planning
Everyone is thinking about “New Year Resolutions”.
What if this year is the year you FULFILL all your resolutions and achieve your goals?
Well, hold on to your hat. Because if you plan your goals and do your work, you can do the same!
Creating and recognizing your accomplishments is essential to your business. Goals will keep you motivated and help you turn what can be a big task into small, manageable steps.
Here are some simple tips to help you plan for your 2010 success:
#1 – Change your goals. Keeping your goals is important. You may want to start by writing down all of your goals in one place where you can easily write them down. Give your goals a number of days that you have achieved and reward yourself when you record your achievements.
Keeping your goals this way will help you stay motivated and keep you moving in the right direction. Experts agree that we can stick to our plans if we think carefully about the goals we want to achieve. Making your own goals helps you do that.
#2 – Overcome your obstacles. We all have road blogs that we need to find a way around. In business, it can be balancing your family life with work, or squeezing time to build your business around your full-time job. Whatever your current situation, it can help to write down your obstacles along with a plan to help you overcome them.
If the other side of the road has close friends or relatives, talk to them and agree on how to make it a win-win for all involved. With your goals achieved, often more people than you can win. It is part of the “rewards” of the prices paid to punish you for doing and completing your plans.
For example, if you have a limited amount of time to develop your business, write a specific plan to keep it running smoothly. Make sure you are united in your family to support your goals. Enroll them in your process. Even if you only have four hours a week, it makes more sense to write that down than to want ten hours and get frustrated.
#3 – Enjoy your achievements. Small is big. Both are important. Most of us have goals that we work towards, but we rarely celebrate what we have achieved. However, it is important to celebrate the small successes as much as the big ones. It all leads to the same end.
#4 – Find a friend to talk to. A teacher, a friend, a family member – but, someone who helps you and cares about you to achieve what you set out to do. It’s funny how often we get better at doing things because of other people’s expectations – rather than our own. A responsive partner helps keep you on track, week after week. Just make sure you choose a partner who wants you to succeed, as some are judgers, doubters, naysayers, or even destroyers of your big dreams. So, trust your partner!
#5 – Change things up. The best way to do this is to have both small and large goals. Then describe your progress and note all of your accomplishments – big or small. It is always easier to eat an elephant one bite at a time, as opposed to choking and leaving large pieces.
Taking the time to celebrate your small, as well as big, accomplishments will give you an idea of what to do that will help you tackle your big goals faster. You can enjoy the little things like buying that bag you’ve been wanting for months, treating yourself to a spa day or going out to dinner. It doesn’t matter how you celebrate as long as you acknowledge your work well done.
And remember, goals change. It’s like reaching the end. When one brand ends, another starts up as your favorite. Planning, tracking and reporting on your achievements are great ways to stay ahead of your goals!
For the best in 2010!
